Precoat powder bucket

Precoat powder is a fine, inert material commonly made from substances such as cellulose or diatomaceous earth. It is used in dust collection systems to protect filters and improve overall performance. The powder is applied as an initial layer on new filter bags or cartridges before the system begins collecting process dust.

This precoat layer acts as a protective barrier between the filter media and the incoming dust. It helps prevent fine, sticky, or difficult dust particles from embedding directly into the filter surface, which can extend filter life and help maintain proper airflow.

Precoat powder can also be used as a conditioning feed during normal operation, especially in applications involving oily, damp, or resinous dusts that may otherwise clog or blind the filters. Regular use can improve cleaning efficiency, reduce differential pressure, lower the frequency of filter changeouts, and help reduce operating costs.

Applying precoat to new filters is a simple process and does not require special equipment. After installing the new bags or cartridges, run the dust collector fan at a low volume and introduce the precoat material so it is drawn into the collector and deposited onto the filters. For a baghouse or large cartridge collector, this process typically takes about 3 to 4 hours. For a smaller cartridge collector, it usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
