How to Use This Calculator

  • ⦿ Enter the Total Fabric Area (sq/ft): Input the total surface area of all the filter cloth inside your baghouse.

⦿ Calculate: Click the calculate button to determine the exact amount of leak testing powder required to properly test your system. You can then use the buttons below the calculator to email yourself a PDF summary of the results or request a free system sizing consultation from our engineering team.

Understanding the Formula

Cantidad de polvo necesario (lb) = Área total de filtros (pies cuadrados) ÷ 1,000

Leak testing powder is a fine, colored dust used to test for leaks in filter bags, seals, or the baghouse itself. It is introduced into the system, and any dust that escapes the clean side is visually traced back to its source to identify failures. To ensure there is enough powder to coat the system effectively without wasting material, the standard formula requires 1 pound of powder for every 1,000 square feet of filter fabric area. Regular leak testing prevents performance loss, ensures clean emissions, and is a quick, inexpensive way to check filter integrity.
