Propiedades como el tama\u00f1o de part\u00edcula, composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica y peso dependen del tipo de agregado procesado, contenido de humedad y del tipo de planta. Tambi\u00e9n influye el tipo de sistema de recolecci\u00f3n. Las plantas con ciclones suelen recolectar part\u00edculas m\u00e1s finas, con hasta un 90\u2013100 % pasando por la malla No. 200 (0.075 mm). Las que no usan ciclones pueden tener un polvo m\u00e1s grueso, con menos del 50% pasando esa misma malla.<\/p><p>En general, los polvos del colector son part\u00edculas menores a 0.6 mm. Algunos son m\u00e1s gruesos, otros ultrafinos. Los recolectados despu\u00e9s de un cicl\u00f3n son m\u00e1s adecuados para su reutilizaci\u00f3n. Casi todos tienen baja plasticidad (\u00edndice de plasticidad menor a 4) y baja absorci\u00f3n de humedad (menos del 2 %). Rara vez contienen impurezas org\u00e1nicas, salvo en algunas plantas que usan quemadores a base de aceite.<\/p><p>Qu\u00edmicamente, los finos del colector tienden a ser alcalinos, con un pH que var\u00eda de 7.2 hasta 12.4, dependiendo del tipo de agregado. Cuando se reutilizan, act\u00faan como relleno mineral, reemplazando materiales como cal hidratada o polvo de piedra. Estos rellenos son importantes: si la mezcla tiene muy poco, puede faltar cohesi\u00f3n; si tiene demasiado, se vuelve quebradiza.<\/p><p>Por eso algunos productores cuidan cu\u00e1nto polvo del colector usan. Por ejemplo, aumentar la proporci\u00f3n de 0.2 a 0.5 hace que la mezcla sea m\u00e1s r\u00edgida, reduce la penetraci\u00f3n del ligante y aumenta la viscosidad. Las pruebas de laboratorio muestran que la estabilidad Marshall mejora al a\u00f1adir m\u00e1s material, alcanzando su punto \u00f3ptimo cuando el polvo representa alrededor del 55 % del volumen del ligante. Tambi\u00e9n aumenta el m\u00f3dulo resiliente, lo que significa una mezcla m\u00e1s fuerte. Pero hay un l\u00edmite: si hay demasiado material fino (especialmente m\u00e1s del 50% del volumen del ligante), puede haber sensibilidad a la humedad y problemas de durabilidad en el campo.<\/p><p>Por eso es tan importante un buen dise\u00f1o de mezcla. La mayor\u00eda de las mezclas con polvos recolectados pueden dise\u00f1arse con m\u00e9todos est\u00e1ndar como la prueba Marshall de inmersi\u00f3n-compresi\u00f3n (ASTM D1075). Un buen dise\u00f1o mantiene el polvo por debajo del 50% del volumen del ligante, usa part\u00edculas bien graduadas e incluye bastante material ultrafino (menor a 0.010\u20130.020 mm). Tambi\u00e9n es clave mantener constante la proporci\u00f3n de polvo a asfalto\u2014cualquier cambio en la composici\u00f3n puede afectar el rendimiento del pavimento.<\/p><p>Si vas a mezclar polvo de cicl\u00f3n con polvos del colector, aseg\u00farate de conocer las proporciones y mezclarlos bien. El tipo de agregado tambi\u00e9n importa: los polvos de rocas duras y filosas como el granito o basaltos pueden endurecer m\u00e1s la mezcla que los de materiales carbonatados m\u00e1s suaves.<\/p><p>En resumen, los polvos recolectados no son solo relleno: act\u00faan como componentes activos de la mezcla. Hay que tomarlos en cuenta como un factor desde el comienzo, no agregarlos improvisadamente.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f45f816 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"f45f816\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-69f2259 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"69f2259\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Consejos para el uso de polvo recolectado y la producci\u00f3n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-db7ac5c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"db7ac5c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Las mezclas con polvos recolectados pueden modelarse con m\u00e9todos est\u00e1ndar de AASHTO, siempre y cuando se integren correctamente.<\/p><p>El manejo de este polvo depende del tipo de planta. En las plantas de producci\u00f3n por lotes se pueden reintroducir en varios puntos: el elevador caliente, la tolva No. 1 o la caja de pesaje. Introducir los polvos recolectados m\u00e1s temprano en el proceso generalmente mejora la mezcla y da propiedades m\u00e1s uniformes. En plantas de mezcla cont\u00ednua, se pueden agregar en la banda de alimentaci\u00f3n fr\u00eda, la entrada o salida del tambor, o idealmente, en el punto donde se inyecta el asfalto l\u00edquido. Esta \u00faltima opci\u00f3n mejora el recubrimiento y reduce el riesgo de que el polvo se escape.<\/p><p>Puedes seguir usando t\u00e9cnicas est\u00e1ndar de mezcla y compactaci\u00f3n, aunque las mezclas con m\u00e1s relleno pueden ser m\u00e1s dif\u00edciles de compactar por su rigidez. El control de calidad tampoco cambia: usa AASHTO T168 para muestreo, ASTM D2726 para peso espec\u00edfico y ASTM D2950 para densidad en sitio.<\/p><p>A lo largo de los a\u00f1os, se ha investigado mucho sobre c\u00f3mo se comporta este polvo recolectado en la pr\u00e1ctica. Estudios de hace muchos a\u00f1os atr\u00e1s (como uno de PennDOT en los a\u00f1os 70) ya advert\u00edan sobre mezclas quebradizas y problemas de compactaci\u00f3n cuando se agregaban polvos de forma inconsistente. Pero estudios m\u00e1s recientes son mucho m\u00e1s positivos. Caltrans, por ejemplo, encontr\u00f3 que agregar hasta un 2% mejor\u00f3 la cohesi\u00f3n. El Instituto del Asfalto concluy\u00f3 que funcionan bien como relleno mineral, siempre que el agregado sea de buena calidad.
